Welcome to Scotland

Scotland is located in the northern part of Bon Homme County on US Hwy 25 in south eastern South Dakota. Scotland is centrally located between three of South Dakota's largest cities: Sioux Falls, Mitchell, and Yankton. Scotland is best known for its Highlander school mascot. Recreational opportunities include: hunting, fishing, camping, golf, baseball, and trap shooting. Scotland is a place that you could call home no matter what your age; If you are starting a family, retiring, or just looking for a smaller community to live, work, and play.

  • Weather Permitting - The rubble site will be open:
    Thursday, April 20, 2017 from 4pm - 7:30pm.
    Saturday, April 22, 2017 from 10am - 12pm and 1pm - 4pm.
    Please check in with rubble site monitor prior to unloading.


  • City-wide clean-up is Monday, April 24, 2017, everything MUST be set out by 8am.


  • ​Lifeguard Applications are now being accepted by the City of Scotland until Monday, May 8, 2017 at 5pm. All applications

        must include current lifeguard/CPR certification.


  • ​April 1, 2017 the garbage route pickup days are changing:
     - ALL RESIDENTS LIVING EAST OF HIGHWAY 25 will have their garbage picked up on Tuesdays.
     - ALL RESIDENTS LIVING WEST OF HIGHWAY 25 will have their garbage picked up on Fridays.
